This paper reviews tDCS- and tACS-induced electric field estimations as they are recorded in humans and non-human primates using intracerebral electrodes. For clinical protocols, the injected current reaches the brain, even at the deep structures (e.g., Nucleus Accumbens or Subthalamic nucleus). Stimulation parameters, electrode positions, and personal anatomy determine the intensities.
