Efficacy and Acceptability of Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation for the Treatment of Adult Unipolar and Bipolar Depression: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomised Sham-Controlled Trials

A meta-analysis comparing Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for adult unipolar or bipolar depression.
The meta-analysis is based on a total of 56 studies and 3058 participants, out of which 10 studies were using tDCS in a total of 455 participants.
Efficacy was shown for high-frequency rTMS over the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), right-sided low-frequency rTMS, bilateral rTMS, deep TMS, intermittent TBS, and tDCS.
